Watch: Emmerson Mnangagwa Explains How he Convinced Edgar Lungu to Accept Defeat

The President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa personally called Zambia’s outgoing president, Edgar Lungu to persuade him to handover power in a constitutional way.

Lungu was defeated by opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema during the presidential elections that took place on the 12th of August.

Thousands expected Edgar Lungu to refuse handing over power to Hakainde. They expected that because Lungu had claimed that the elections were not free and fair.

Few days after the results were released, Lungu and Hakainde Hichilema held a meeting with former President of Zambia Rupiah Banda to discuss matters concerning the nation of Zambia.

However, addressing his supporters in Mutare today, Emmerson Mnangagwa said he is the one who convinced Edgar Lungu to not fight democracy.
