Dancer Beverly “Bev” Sibanda opened up on her affection and relationship with the Congolese rhumba legend Koffi Olomide.

This comes after her pictures together with Koffi Olomide circulated on social media, sparking debate that there was more between them.
However, the dancer revealed that the two knew each since 2015.

She cleared the air during an interview with a local tabloid that she and Koffi were close buddies whose relationship borders on music business.

“I was shocked and surprised by people who think I have known Koffi this week after his invitation to the capital for a musical project with Rockford Josphats by Prophet Passion Java.

“I first met Koffi in person in 2015, we did a video together which he posted on his social media pages.

“From that experience that saw me starring in the video, we have been in touch and exchanging notes regarding our respective careers,” she said.
Asked how frequent she talks to Koffi over the phone, she said:

“Sometimes we can talk to each other every day or once every week depending on his schedule and mine as well.

“We only talk about music and how best I can improve myself as an artiste and entrepreneur which has helped me a lot to be where I am today.

“So when people started circulating my pictures on social media with Koffi, I almost laughed because he is someone I chat to regularly.”

Besides her bold assertions that they are close pals, Bev explained why she didn’t welcome Koffi at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

“I already knew that he was coming to Zimbabwe before some of the people who only saw it on social media on Wednesday.

“I didn’t want to appear semunhu anoda zvinhu sitereki but I am now a mature person who would not be found gatecrashing events.
“I am now a professional person who wait to be invited where I am needed to protect the image of my brand.

“I was finally invited to his apartment where we spoke at length about our forth-coming video together, which I am looking forward to it,” she added.
