The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is on a fact-finding mission in the Kingdom of Eswatini following a week-long protest demanding political reform.

Pro-democracy activists and members of the public took to the streets, looting shops and vandalising infrastructure among others.

The protests led to clashes with police and soldiers allegedly deployed to safeguard the government infrastructure.

The SADC deployed its organ on Politics, Defence and Security on a fact-finding mission.

The mission is led by Botswana Minister of International Affairs Dr. Lemohang Kwape, representing Troika Chairperson Mokgweetsi Masisi.

The team was invited by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Thuli Dladla on Friday.

Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku welcomed the team on Sunday to the Kingdom.
