The President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa is set to participate in the extraordinary summit of the South African Development Community (SADC) in Maputo, Mozambique.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 23 June 2021 and it will be preceded by a meeting of ministers on Tuesday, 22 June 2021.

Ramaphosa will be accompanied by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Dr Naledi Pandor and the minister of State Security Ms Ayanda Dlodlo.

The summit will be a follow up of the Extraordinary SADC Double Troika which took place in Mozambique on 27 May 2021.

According to a statement by the office of the president, the purpose of the summit is to consider the proposed SADC Regional Response and Support to the Republic of Mozambique.

Mozambique has been facing attacks from the Islamist forces in the Cabo Delgado province.
