Zimbabwean authorities this week released freelance New York Times journalist, Jeffrey Moyo, after he had been jailed for three weeks.

Moyo was arrested on charges of improperly facilitating the entrance of two other reporters to the country.

Among the charges he faced is the violation of immigration rules.

The two journalists who also work for New York Times arrived in Zimbabwe from South Africa in May, they were forced to leave three days later for not having accreditation from the Zimbabwe Media Commission.

Moyo revealed that he cannot talk much about the case because he is still on bail.

He further revealed that he lost his freedom from 26 May when the Zimbabwe Republic Police arrested him.

“It was bad I slept on the floor with no blankets, they took my shoes and my jacket. I don’t know why they were doing that to me,” said Moyo.

He further revealed that he was transferred to Bulawayo Court as the Harare magistrate argued that the fake accreditation was done in Bulawayo’s airport.

Moyo further revealed that his wife was not allowed to see him all the days he was in prison.
