The Sunday Independent reports that popular South African based Malawian Prophet, Shepherd Bushiri, and his wife Mary, escaped from South Africa through a border between South Africa and Lesotho.

The newspaper is not clear how the family then travelled between Lesotho and  Malawi.

The paper also revealed that Malawian President, Lazarus Chakwera ‘s jet was searched at Waterkloof Air base after a tip off that Bushiri was in the plane, but they did not find him.

Officers were then dispatched to the OR Tambo international Airport, where more of Chakwera’ s delegation was, but they also did not find Bushiri there.

President Chakwera’s jet made a stop over at OR Tambo International to pick up the rest of his delegation who were not allowed to board at Waterkloof Air force base.

Bushiri and his wife Mary, reported at Midrand Police Station on Wednesday, but failed to report on Friday.

The newspaper also reported that Interpol has activated a red notice on the prophet and his wife.
