IT Specialist and fugitive killer, Gerhardus Jansen Van Vuuren, who has been on the run for 13 years, was yesterday brought back to South Africa from Brazil with the help of Interpol Pretoria.

The Star Newspaper reports that Van Vuuren escaped South Africa while on bail, using a false passport under the name Daniel Joseph Mouton in May 2013.

Van Vuuren stabbed Andrea Venter, an accountant, 14 times, at her complex in Fourways, Johannesburg, after she left him and fled from their home town of Rusternburg due to his violent and abusive nature.

Van Vuuren would go on to stalk Andrea on her phone and finally tracked her down and stabbed her to death in an attack that was caught on CCTV cameras in May 2011.

After being denied bail by the Magistrate courts twice, the Joburg High Court granted him bail, leading to his escape.
