The Mali Military has confirmed that militants killed at least 10 soldiers in the town of Guire, near the border with Mauritania.
This is the first confirmed attack on the Mali Military since the coup that ousted former president, Ibrahim Baubacar Keita.
There are now fears that instability could increase in Mali.
