Emmerson Mnangagwa has eased the Covid-19 lockdown curfew and business hours, Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa announced on Tuesday.

Speaking during this week’s cabinet briefing, Mutsvanga urged people to remain cautious despite the easing of the lockdown curfew.

Zimbabwe has recorded 5,176 confirmed Covid-19 cases, 2,047 recoveries and 130 deaths.

Below are the new restrictions put in place.

Business hours to end at 1630hrs

Curfew to be extended from 6pm to 8pm up to 6am.

Public transport drivers undergo regular PCR testing and also to facilitate movement of the populace

Public transport buses be allowed a dedicated lane at roadblocks so that their passage is expedited

Immigrants who are PCR negative on arrival will no longer be detained but be put on home quarantine and reviews will be conducted with rapid response however those who test positive will be placed in isolation centres.

Measures are being put in place to ensure that health workers return work.

Acquisition of PPEs for frontline workers is prioritised.

Schools are preparing to open for final examinations
