Zimbabwe is a nation known for breeding self-motivated, talented and enterprising young people. Despite the unstable market and a deepening economic crisis, young people are making strides in various aspects of lives through their talents.

Each one of them is creating a conducive environment for the growth of their businesses and surprisingly, they seem to be doing so well despite limitations existing in our economy. Whilst so much has been said about famous entrepreneurs like Frank Buyanga, Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa, and many others, this article includes artists and entrepreneurs you might not have seen before, but their works are evident for all to us.

Nyaradzo Florence Mupure

A christian entrepreneur at heart who believes that God has blessed everything in her hands. Nyaradzo discovered that she co sell literally anything without any difficulties experienced by many in her line of work.

After finishing her Advanced level studies, she ventured into baking and selling of buns to financially empower herself. She then enrolled into University with such a business mindset, it was during that time that she sold hundreds of cake boxes.

Nyaradzo joined Ganelli perfumes and within a short space of time, received a licence and became a franchisee.
As the bond note began to lose value over the USD. she created her own perfume brand with two other ladies from Gweru.

She also manufactures lotion and is set to introduce a new brand of roll-on this coming week. Currently she sells more than 700 bottles of perfumes and its something that she does during and outside her working hours.

She has begun a motivational series in which she encourages and empowers young ladies to use their hands and be financially independent.

Linda Nyauchi a.k.a Lee McHoney

She is a Bulawayo Afro-fusion musician whose popularity is rapidly increasing. Lee has proved to be a force to reckon with especially after the release of her album “Sana”. She said her lyrics are inspired by real life experiences.
She had an opportunity to be on the spotlight this year in South Africa when she opened the stage for South Africa’s multi-award winning House Music couple Sun El Musician and Simmy during the Heroes holiday.

Marvellous Nyangoro

The 22 year old Zimbabwe entrepreneur who was this year nominated for the MasterCard Foundation and African Leadership Academy having successfully qualified to be in the Top 20 list for Youngest Entrepreneurs in Africa.
He is an Accounting graduate from the Midlands State University in Zimbabwe and it is during his time of studies that he founded the ‘Housing Hub’ after having fallen prey to difficulties of the off-campus accommodation search.

Earlier this year, the ‘Housing Hub’ had been signed by two local Universities: Midlands State University and Manicaland State University. As of January 2019 the company successfully allocated accomodation to over 2000 tertiary students through its platform.

Simbarashe Mhuriro

Founder and Managing Director of Oxygen Energy Private Limited, a power producing company that focuses on renewable energy .

He received a grant of US$965 000 from the African Development Bank(AfDB) to support the preparation of a bankable business case for the development of a 20MW off-grid solar photovoltaic rooftop project on buildings owned by Old Mutual Property Group.

He was also listed in the 2016 ranking of 30 Most Promising Young Entrepreneurs in Africa.

Maddie Masukusa

She is a very unique and talented beauty artist and fashion stylists who, in her line of business has made many brides look amazingly beautiful on their wedding day.

When we talk of elagance amongst Zimbabwean artists, Maddie never disappoints. She is passionate about beauty, motivated to upgrade her skills, keeping up with the fast paced technologically advancing society.

She is also a specialised bridal hairstylist and hair dresser with five years of experience. Anything that has got to do with beauty, Maddie is known for creating a marvel out of ‘nothing’.

Trythanks Nyikadzino

Founded Freight Architects Zimbabwe with three of his colleagues soon after their graduation at the Chinhoyi University of Zimbabwe.

It is a transport, logistics and freight forwarding company which focuses on all imports and exports services. The three others include Ngonidzashe Matinga, Tafadzwa Matenganzara and Antonette Tizola.
Whilst thousands of graduates are waiting to find jobs, this team joined forces to actually create employment for others. Quite an applaudable inspiration.

Needless to say, whilst some are folding their hands waiting for jobs to locate them, others are grabbing opportunities to create employment.
