Zimbabweans who came to the funeral of Robert Mugabe were singing, “…asi chingwa ndasiya padhora…” (I have finished my job and I left bread costing $1)

When Robert Mugabe was ousted in 2017 by the Zimbabwe military, a loaf of bread was at US$0.90 or Bond $0.90. They are singing in protest and mocking ED Mnangagwa the current President of Zimbabwe that a loaf of bread is now at ZW$10.

However, in real terms or in US dollar terms, the price of bread has actually dropped to around US$0.60. Most people believe it doesn’t hep anything since they don’t receive their salaries in US dollars. The RTGS$ continues to plunge against the US which is eroding people’s salaries.
