A statement issued by the IMF in connection with Zimbabwe’s civil servants salary was interpreted to mean that civil servants should not get pay rise.
This became a shocker to Zimbabweans as the average teacher, nurse or police officer is earning around forty to fifty United States dollars equivalent per month.
Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube explains the IMF statement apologetically which he firmly believes it was misinterpreted. In a video posted on ZTN, Mthuli says the IMF meant that salaries should be increased in a sustainable way.
