*Govt Increases Passport Prices By 500%*
Government has increased the costs of applying for a passport by five hundred percent with effect from Monday.
The new charges that are yet to be published by government will be as follows:
Normal
$53 to $253
Urgent Emergency
$253 to $800
Immediate
$318 to $1000
The Registrar General has in recent months been battling to produce passports with applicants having to wait for close to a year before getting their passports.
The office claimed that the delays in the production of the passports was due to a major break down in the only printing machine in Harare.
