
The Zimbabwe Republic Police released a press statement on 17 October 2025, updating the public on the robbery and murder of Joseph Mutangadura (67), which occurred on 17 August 2025. Following the arrest of Phillip Mutasa (38) on 4 October, a second suspect, Given Mandizadza (34), was apprehended on 13 October 2025 in Harare.
During Mandizadza’s arrest, police recovered two pistols, explosives, ammunition, and other items from the suspect’s vehicle.

PRESS STATEMENT 17TH OF OCTOBER 2025
UPDATE ON THE ROBBERY AND MURDER OF JOSEPH MUTANGADURA AT MUTANGADURA HIDEOUT, RUWA, HARARE
Reference is made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s statement issued on 4th Of October 2025 regarding the arrest of Phillip Mutasa (38) in connection with the robbery and murder of Joseph Mutangadura (67) which occurred at Mutangadura Hideout along Dunstan Road, Ruwa, Harare on 17the Of August 2025.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of another suspect, Given Mandizadza (34), in connection with the same case.
On 13th Of October 2025, detectives from CID Homicide received information on the whereabouts of the second suspect. Acting on the tip, the detectives tracked the suspect to the intersection of Robert Mugabe Road and Julius Nyerere Way, Harare, where the suspect was subsequently arrested.
During the arrest, police recovered two pistols, one with an empty magazine and another loaded with seven live rounds, three .32 long live cartridges, two fuses, two explosives, a baby grinder and a black monkey hat from the back seat of a white Isuzu vehicle which was being used by the suspect.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police commends members of the public for providing valuable information which led to the arrest of the suspect.
