A fatal car accident involving the driver of the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, General Valerio Sibanda, occurred this week, with news breaking on Thursday, November 13, 2025. General Sibanda was not in this vehicle during the collision. General Sibanda’s driver, identified in later reports as ZNA Sergeant Phillip Chiutsi, died in the crash.
The tragic incident occurred along the busy Bulawayo-Harare Road
In August 2021, Desmond Sinoia was jailed after he crashed in PV Sibanda’s vehicle. The incident happened near Glenara Road and Samora Machel Avenue intersection, it was revealed in court.
General Philip Valerio Sibanda is expected to step down as the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) on November 23, 2025. His term of office was recently extended by President Emmerson Mnangagwa for a year, from December 24, 2024, to this date.
