DEMBARE DOT COMS: THE DURAWALL FALLS , BELOVED CAPTAIN ANGIRAI CHAPO IS NO MORE

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of a true giant of Zimbabwean football, Angirayi Chapo, affectionately known to all as “Durawall.” The news of his death at his Mufakose residence has sent shockwaves through the community he loved and served so passionately.
The nickname “Durawall” was not just a catchy moniker; it was a perfect encapsulation of the man and the player. As a hard-tackling right wing back and former captain of Dynamos Football Club (DeMbare), Angirayi was the definition of reliability, strength, and resilience. He was the impenetrable wall on the right flank, a man whose commitment to the badge was absolute. Every challenge he made, every defensive block, spoke volumes of his unyielding spirit.
He joined Dynamos in 1984 when he was lured by Clayton Munemo after being frustrated by cross town rivals CAPS United Football Club as a reserve player when their coach Obadiah Sarupinda did not give him game time.
Angirayi’s legacy at the Glamour Boys is one of leadership and unwavering dedication. He was more than just a player; he was a captain who led by example, inspiring teammates with his tenacity and fearlessness on the field. To the supporters of Dynamos, he was a hero, a man who gave his all for the blue and white jersey.
While his presence on the pitch will be forever missed, it is the void in the lives of his family, friends, and neighbours that is most profound. We remember him not just as a star athlete, but as a member of the Mufakose community, a soul who walked among us and touched lives off the field as well.
In the face of this profound loss, we extend our deepest sympathies to the Chapo family. May you find strength in the outpouring of love and respect from a nation that watched him play and admired his spirit.
Angirayi “Durawall” Chapo has finished his final match. He fought the good fight, and his memory will forever be a sturdy, inspiring wall in the history of Zimbabwean football.
May his soul rest in eternal peace. MHDSRIP.
