Government’s recent ban on tinted vehicles has ignited an outcry, with prominent socialites and ordinary citizens warning the move could expose them to more danger rather than protect them.

Socialite Lorraine Guyo revealed her trauma, recalling how she was once attacked while driving a non-tinted car. “Ini hangu semunhu akamboterwa nema tsotsi mota isina tint. I am really traumatized by the decision,” she lamented.

Fellow influencer Yahya Good Vibes echoed the fears, saying she only opted for tinted windows after criminals identified her as a woman in traffic and robbed her. “Tint gave me security,” she explained.

Critics argue that while authorities say the ban will help curb crime, the opposite may happen with wealthy individuals and women now more exposed as potential targets.

The policy, they say, strips away a layer of protection in a country already grappling with violent robberies.
