The Warriors will be without star midfielder Marshall Munetsi when they face Benin in a crucial FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Group C tie on September 5.

Although named in the squad, the Wolves midfielder is ruled out through suspension after accumulating two yellow cards during the campaign. Munetsi first went into the referee’s book against Lesotho in June 2024, before receiving another caution in the clash with Nigeria on March 25, 2025.

His absence is a major setback for the Warriors, with Munetsi having been a consistent performer at the heart of midfield.

Benin will also be without key man Dodo Dokou, who is serving a suspension of his own.

Munetsi, however, will be available for Zimbabwe’s next assignment against Rwanda on September 9 in Johannesburg, South Africa a fixture already shaping up as a decisive encounter in the group.
