A Tanzanian man, Cassin Pascal Man’ombe, who was caught on CCTV allegedly breaking into a parked vehicle at Village Walk, Borrowdale, is expected to return to court today. Proceedings have been delayed as the court awaits a Swahili interpreter.
Man’ombe, believed to be in Zimbabwe without proper documentation, is accused of targeting Kundai Singano’s vehicle on 19 August, making off with a bag that contained a silver MacBook and Petrotrade fuel coupons. CCTV footage reportedly captured him fleeing in a Toyota Fortuner, while the victim’s attempt to chase him on foot proved unsuccessful.
Investigators say Man’ombe could be part of a wider crime trail, linking him to similar vehicle break-ins reported in Mt Pleasant and along Samora Machel Avenue, allegedly using the same getaway car.
