Concerns are mounting within Temba Mliswa’s camp after the outspoken politician spent another night in custody at Magunje Police Station amid unexplained delays in his transfer to Chinhoyi.

Mliswa, who voluntarily handed himself over to police on Monday, was supposed to be moved to Chinhoyi yesterday. However, sources say the transfer stalled after ZRP ICT officers, responsible for the process, only arrived at 5PM.

As of late last night, the journey to Chinhoyi had still not begun, sparking fears among Mliswa’s allies that he could be moved under cover of darkness for what they suspect could be “nefarious plans” against him.

The former Norton legislator has long accused senior police officials, including Commissioner General Godwin Matanga, Commissioner General Mutamba and Mashonaland West Police Commissioner Nyazema, of corruption.

He has also publicly warned that if anything were to happen to him, these individuals should be held accountable.

The ongoing case stems from the contentious Rengwe Conservancy issue, which has pitted Mliswa against top police commanders.

While police maintain that Mliswa faces charges of prospecting for minerals without a licence, his allies insist that the case is politically motivated and linked to his relentless exposure of corruption within the force.
