Opposition activist Promise Mkwananzi has declared that Zimbabwe’s salvation lies in the rise of “divinely appointed and God-fearing leaders” who he claims are set to emerge and transform the country.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mkwananzi said Zimbabwe’s natural resources and human potential would only be fully realised under leaders who govern “according to God’s will and doctrine.”

“Divinely appointed and God fearing leaders are rising to rescue Zimbabwe from its current challenges,” he wrote. “When these leaders assume their positions and govern according to His will and doctrine, the country’s potential will be fully realized, its natural resources will be fully unleashed and revealed, and its citizens will experience empowerment, upliftment, peace, and prosperity.”

Mkwananzi’s remarks come at a time when Zimbabwe is battling a fragile economy, runaway inflation, and persistent governance disputes following last year’s disputed elections.

While he did not name the leaders he was referring to, the activist has previously urged Zimbabweans to remain hopeful and prayerful, insisting that the country’s future is not doomed.
