“Funeral yaTendai (Ndoro) ichaitirwa pamba paakakurira pano pa house number 1976 Nketa 8, Bulawayo. Ndipo pakakurira,” said his mother, Christina Mukundwa.

Ndoro, aged 40, died at his apartment in Sandton, South Africa, and his body is yet to be repatriated back to Zimbabwe.

Career Journey

Born in Luveve, Bulawayo, Ndoro’s football career began in Botswana with Nico United in 2009. He returned home in 2011 to join Chicken Inn, where his prolific scoring caught the eye of South African scouts.

In 2013, he signed with Cape Town City, before sealing a high-profile move to Orlando Pirates in 2015. Ndoro spent two seasons with the Soweto giants, becoming a fan favourite for his sharp finishing.

His success earned him a move to Saudi Arabia with Al-Faisaly in 2017, but after just one season he returned to South Africa, signing with Ajax Cape Town. Further spells with Highlands Park and Oman’s Al-Orouba followed before his career wound down.

Later Life and Challenges

In May 2025, Ndoro underwent surgery in Durban to remove an armpit tumour.

His private life also drew headlines, particularly after his 2022 divorce from Thando Maseko. Reports claimed he had lost his assets  including his Johannesburg home and cars because they were registered in her name, leaving him bankrupt and forcing a return to Zimbabwe.

However, Ndoro dismissed those claims in interviews in November 2024, saying the split was amicable and property was divided fairly.

“I didn’t lose anything, she didn’t take anything,” Ndoro clarified at the time.

A Legacy Remembered

Ndoro is remembered as one of Zimbabwe’s most talented strikers of his generation, whose career spanned top leagues in Southern Africa and beyond. Tributes have poured in from across the football fraternity in both Zimbabwe and South Africa, with many recalling his ability to inspire fans and teammates alike.

Funeral arrangements and repatriation details are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
