Zimbabwean international Marvelous Nakamba made a quiet return to the pitch on Wednesday, featuring in Luton Town’s U21 squad during a friendly against Leyton Orient.
The midfielder, who had been training alone for weeks, was left out of all senior pre-season fixtures and also missed Luton’s first League One match against AFC Wimbledon last Friday raising questions about his future with the club.
Now, his appearance in the U21 lineup marks his first minutes of match action since Luton’s relegation from the English Championship. While his return is a positive sign, it has done little to silence speculation over a potential move away from Kenilworth Road.
Luton Town head coach Matt Bloomfield has previously stated he is open to letting Nakamba leave, but only if the right offer comes in.
“We’re not actively pushing anyone out, but if the right opportunity arises, it’s something we’d have to consider,” Bloomfield said.
