Prominent opposition figure Job Sikhala has shared insights from a recent breakfast meeting with Dr. Nkosana Moyo, praising the former minister and technocrat for his “amazing wisdom.”
In a tweet, Sikhala expressed gratitude and highlighted a powerful political analogy shared by Dr. Moyo what he called the “hyena-lion syndrome.” The concept refers to the way political actors may fight over control or power not to protect the people or nation, but merely to secure benefits for themselves, pushing others out of the way.
“When the lion or the hyena catches the prey, they fight not to save the catch but to disperse the other so as to eat the prey themselves,” wrote Sikhala, calling it a “loaded political truism.”
He emphasized that true opposition should be the exact opposite of this selfish power struggle, and must serve the people rather than compete for personal gain.
