Close relatives of legendary Dendera pioneer Nicholas “Madzibaba” Zakaria have come under scrutiny amid claims they may be exaggerating his health condition to solicit public sympathy and possibly financial support.
The claims were raised by a prominent medical practitioner who spoke to H-Metro on condition of anonymity, expressing concern over the way Zakaria’s illness is being portrayed, especially on social media platforms.
Zakaria, revered for mentoring artists like Alick Macheso, was recently reported to be seriously ill, sparking an outpouring of sympathy and informal fundraising initiatives.
But some observers believe the tone of the messaging by family members appears alarmist possibly designed to encourage donations.
