Prominent lawyer and opposition leader Fadzayi Mahere has delivered a scathing critique of Zimbabwe’s ruling regime, praising the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of ordinary citizens while condemning the government for squandering the country’s human potential.

In a powerful statement shared on social media, Mahere declared “Most successful governments would kill to have a populace like Zimbabwe people who love to work, who don’t expect handouts, who hustle day and night just to survive. Yet we have a regime that has no respect for its human capital and will do anything in its power to make the masses suffer.”

She painted a picture of what Zimbabwe could be under competent leadership  a thriving nation powered by its own hardworking people. Instead, Mahere lamented, Zimbabwe remains trapped in a broken ecosystem where dreams are stifled and effort often goes unrewarded.

“Imagine if we had an ecosystem that worked?” she asked. “Entrepreneurs would be thriving, factories would be buzzing, service providers would be delivering. Zimbabweans abroad succeed precisely because they’re finally operating in functional systems.”

Her statement draws a sharp contrast between Zimbabweans’ proven capabilities abroad and the stifling conditions they face at home.
