A devastating road accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning in Nguboyenja, Bulawayo, claiming the life of a Zimpapers driver. Silas Bhunu, who was on duty delivering newspapers, lost his life when his motorbike was hit by a vehicle driven by an unlicensed driver.

The driver, Melusi Nkomo, 19, of Nkulumane 12, had allegedly taken a white Toyota Hilux GD6 without the owner’s consent, with the help of a security guard and his accomplice, Shelton Dube. Nkomo was driving with eight passengers when he encroached into an oncoming lane, hitting the motorcyclist and subsequently losing control of the vehicle, which crashed into an electricity pole.

Following the fatal accident, Nkomo, Dube, and the other passengers allegedly fled the scene, leaving behind a grieving community and a family in mourning. The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible behavior.
