Outspoken activist and whistleblower Susan Mutami has stirred fresh political debate after claiming Zimbabwe is on course to becoming a de facto one-party state by the 2028 elections  with ZANU PF consolidating total power.

Responding to a viral NewsDay front-page headline titled “Zim mourns death of opposition politics”, one X (formerly Twitter) user sarcastically asked, “Who is mourning?”

Mutami responded bluntly“There’s nothing new here. Just before Baba Tendi passed on as you know he was the chief election agent for @ZANUPF_Official the ZNA proposed that all councils be managed by the party because the opposition had failed the people in urban areas for so many years.”

She went on to predict“Come 2028 there won’t be any opposition in 🇿🇼 and in parliament, and a one-party state will come into fruition.”

In the same post, she launched a sharp attack on Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) director-general Isaac Moyo, calling him.

“Cousin Isaac Moyo… akachenjeresa. Itsotsi remhando yepamusoro soro.”

Mutami, known for her provocative and insider commentary, remains a polarising voice  especially given her past claims involving high-level officials, the security sector, and the Mugabe family.
