Prominent lawyer and political commentator Thabani Mpofu has launched a scathing critique of Douglas Mwonzora, following the MDC leader’s disastrous showing in the Epworth by-election.
In a blunt and blistering post on X (formerly Twitter), Mpofu mocked Mwonzora’s failed attempt at political relevance.
“Weighed and found wanting Douglas Mwonzora’s dismal performance in Epworth is a masterclass in how not to do politics… Mkoma Douglas, you’ve always clamored to be ‘measured’ in the political arena; well, congratulations you’ve been measured, and the verdict is in: political nonentity.”
Mpofu acknowledged the unfair electoral terrain but argued that the results revealed more about Mwonzora’s deficiencies than ZANU PF’s dominance. He dismissed the former MDC-T leader as a “spectator” who naively thought name recognition could substitute for grassroots support or credible strategy.
