Traore, also known as Malcolm Masarira, told Gambakwe that he is a political activist pushing for renewal in Zimbabwe and respect for the constitution, and is currently in exile [00:26]. He stated his belief that General Chiwenga is the right candidate to lead Zimbabwe, highlighting Chiwenga’s inclusive approach and stance against corruption [02:08]. Traore also alleged that there is a plot to assassinate Vice President Chiwenga [05:30]. He believes Chiwenga is aware of the plan and capable of protecting himself [09:12]. Traore mentioned that he is a member of ZANU-PF and sees himself taking on a leadership role within the party if assigned [12:50]. He also explained he was arrested in 2022 for saying Mnangagwa was not the right person to lead Zimbabwe [16:20].
According to Traore, a group of 12 mercenaries from Eastern Europe arrived in Zimbabwe as part of a project by “Zvigananda” to create chaos and a state of emergency. The ultimate goal of this plan is to assassinate Vice President Chiwenga.
