After nearly a decade of dedicated service, Denzil Mkandla, General Manager of FC Platinum, has officially bid farewell to the club as he prepares to take on a new chapter as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Highlanders Football Club.
Mkandla’s appointment at Highlanders was confirmed recently after he emerged successful in the club’s CEO recruitment process. He replaces Brian Moyo, whose brief tenure ended abruptly following a scandal involving player transfer fees.
In a heartfelt farewell statement, Mkandla expressed deep appreciation to the FC Platinum family, including players, technical staff, supporters, and the broader Zvishavane community.
“After nine remarkable years with this great institution, the time has come for me to bid farewell,” said Mkandla. “It is with a mix of pride, gratitude, and a touch of sadness that I announce my departure from FC Platinum.”
He described his time at the club as a formative period, adding that the spirit of Pure Platinum Play and The African Dream would remain with him as he transitions into his new role.
“Although I am moving on to pursue a new opportunity, FC Platinum will always hold a special place in my heart. The lessons I’ve learned here and the bonds we’ve formed will stay with me forever.”
Mkandla is expected to officially begin his duties at Highlanders Football Club on August 1, as the Bulawayo giants continue efforts to stabilise their administrative leadership and strengthen their strategic direction.
