Former Norton legislator Temba P. Mliswa has offered a rare public clarification on the internal workings of ZANU-PF’s Central Committee eligibility protocols, particularly highlighting the waiver mechanism used to accommodate candidates who fall short of formal criteria.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mliswa stated “Here is a comprehensive clarification of the protocols governing ZANU-PF’s approach to Central Committee candidacy for individuals who do not fulfill standard eligibility criteria. The provision for waivers serves as an established mechanism that has been used before.”

He further noted that this waiver provision is not new and has benefited several high-profile individuals in the past, including,Simbarashe Mumbengegwi,
Sekai Nzenza, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, Former Health Minister Obadiah Moyo

This insight comes amid renewed interest and debate surrounding how candidates are selected or approved for senior party roles especially when certain qualifications or track records are in question.

While Mliswa’s comments were measured and informative, they are also likely to reignite discussions about transparency, favoritism, and internal democracy within the ruling party.
