In a deeply disturbing case out of Chitungwiza, a couple has been accused of locking their 16-year-old son inside a room for three years, subjecting him to extreme neglect and starvation.
The teenager, identified as Tinotenda Purumero, was allegedly imprisoned in his family home in St Mary’s by his parents, Herbert Purumero (45) and Memory Kamuchato (40).
According to sources close to the investigation, the boy was hidden from the public and left to waste away in isolation deprived of food, care, or even basic human contact.
In the absence of sustenance, Tinotenda reportedly resorted to eating anything he could find, including his own waste. The horrifying ordeal has left him severely malnourished and physically weakened.
