Influential commentator Cucsman has sparked fresh conversation on political accountability in Zimbabwe after condemning what he described as “political tribalism” the deep-rooted culture of loyalty to political parties at the expense of critical thinking.

Cucsman wrote,“One thing that’s really holding Zimbabwe back is political tribalism. It’s like people have made political parties part of their identity. If you criticize ZANU-PF, you’re called a sellout or unpatriotic. If you question CCC or Chamisa, you’re accused of sabotaging change or being bought by ZANU-PF.”

He emphasized that no political party or leader is above scrutiny, and that constructive criticism is essential for accountability and progress.

“Criticism is not hate, it’s accountability. Without it, leaders get comfortable, corrupt, and disconnected from the real struggles on the ground,” he added.

He concluded his message with a rallying call,“If we keep defending leaders blindly, we’ll stay stuck in the same cycle of disappointment. Real progress comes when we all think critically, question everything, and demand better from everyone—not just the party we like. Let’s break the cycle.”
