Prominent opposition politician and lawyer Advocate Job Sikhala has filed a $150,000 lawsuit against ZANU-PF youth member Esau Mutanho for violently disrupting the launch of his biography, “Footprints in the Chains: The Life Story of Job Sikhala.”

The incident took place on July 11, 2025, at Charles Austin Theatre in Masvingo, where a gang of intoxicated youths allegedly led by Mutanho stormed the event.

They physically assaulted guests, tore up books, and interrupted a speech by guest of honor Matthew Takaona.

Mutanho is accused of confiscating copies of the book, destroying them, and distributing them to bystanders in a clear attempt to sabotage the launch. The incident was captured on video and photographs, which provide critical evidence in the civil suit.

Sikhala and co-author Munyaradzi Angero Savanhu are being represented by renowned human rights lawyer Advocate Harrison Nkomo, who has demanded that Mutanho pay $150,000 in damages within seven days, failing which further legal steps will be taken.
