Controversial Zimbabwean businessman Wicknel Chivhayo met with Mozambique’s President Daniel Francisco Chapo on Sunday in what he described as a “profound pleasure and honour.”
In a post reflecting on the visit, Chivayo hailed President Chapo as one of the youngest and most strategic leaders in post-independence Mozambique, praising his youthful energy, political maturity, and visionary leadership.
“At just 47, President Chapo is a unifier who has brought peace and hope to Mozambique, particularly in Cabo Delgado,” Chivhayo stated.
The two reportedly discussed regional trade, energy cooperation, and infrastructure development, with Chivhayo describing the President as a man of lucid ideas and commanding statecraft.
Chivhayo also noted the historic ties between Zimbabwe and Mozambique, forged during the liberation struggle, and praised the hospitality extended at the Palácio da Ponta Vermelha.
“Africa’s destiny rests in the hands of exceptional leaders like President Chapo,” he concluded.
The meeting comes amid growing interest in regional economic cooperation and investments in southern Africa’s energy and infrastructure sectors.
