Kenya is proudly hosting the 16th World Military Golf Championship at the stunning Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort in Diani, Kwale County. The tournament started on June 23, 2025, and runs through June 29, featuring over 120 military golfers—89 men and 31 women—from 19 countries across four continents.

The championship brings together military teams from a diverse group of nations, including Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe, the United States, France, Germany, Brazil, and several others. These countries are members of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), which promotes peace and friendship through sport among armed forces worldwide.

About the Location

Diani Beach is one of Kenya’s most celebrated coastal destinations, renowned for its white sandy beaches, clear turquoise waters, and lush tropical environment. The Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort offers a world-class golf course set against this breathtaking backdrop, providing a perfect blend of challenging sport and natural beauty. This is Kenya’s first time hosting a CISM World Championship, marking a significant milestone in the country’s military sports history.

Competition Highlights

The championship officially opened with a ceremony attended by Kenya’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Charles Kahariri, alongside other senior military officials and international representatives. The competition features simultaneous tee-offs from holes 1 and 10, with Kenya Defence Forces golfers like Captain Prisca Jebet and Lt Col Brian Omito among the first to tee off.

Players will compete over five days, showcasing skill, sportsmanship, and international camaraderie. The event also includes a cultural day, highlighting Kenya’s rich heritage and hospitality.

Zimbabwe’s Participation

Zimbabwe is among the 19 nations competing, continuing its tradition of active involvement in CISM military sports. While specific names of Zimbabwean golfers have not been publicly detailed, the country’s presence underscores its commitment to fostering military friendship through sport.

Last Year’s Championship

The previous (15th) World Military Golf Championship was held in Zimbabwe in 2024, emphasizing Africa’s growing role in hosting major military sports events.
