Notes
The Constitutional Court has ordered that Section (6)1 of SA Citizenship Act 88 of 1995 be scrapped. It dictates that South Africans lose their citizenship if they voluntarily acquire another nationality, unless they apply for and obtain retention from the Minister of Home Affairs. Justice Steven Majiedt said the Act should be scrapped from the date of its promulgation. Those previously affected are now deemed not to have lost their citizenship.
