Journalist Blessed Mhlanga has been released from custody after spending a total of 72 days in remand.

Mhlanga was granted bail on his fourth application, bringing an end to a period of detention that his family described as causing “serious pain.”

Following his release, the Mhlanga family issued a heartfelt statement expressing their profound gratitude for the support they received during his incarceration. The statement reads:

“Our family statement – we never imagined the support afforded to us during the time our Blessed Mhlanga was arrested and detained. We went through serious pain but you comforted us. Now he has been released, you are happy with us. He will speak soon, but as Mhlanga’s we thank you.”
