The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has issued a statement responding to a video circulating on social media that alleges the commission’s involvement in the death of a cross-border truck driver.
The commission emphasized that it is not responsible for the tragic incident. This after public outrage that they had caused the driver’s death.
In a press release dated January 25, 2025, ZACC acknowledged the video and expressed concern over the spread of misinformation that could potentially undermine public trust in the institution.
The commission stated, “The allegations made in the video are unfounded and misleading. ZACC is committed to transparency and accountability in its operations.”
The statement further clarified that the commission does not engage in activities that would jeopardize the safety of individuals, including truck drivers who operate across borders.
ZACC urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information and to rely on official communications for accurate updates.
