The newly elected President of Mozambique, Daniel Chapo faced an unexpected challenge on his way to the inauguration ceremony.

As he traveled through the capital city of Maputo, a group of young protesters greeted him with chants of “Valencio Modlane!”—the name of his political rival who recently returned to the country.

Modlane left Mozambique around October 21 saying that he feared for his life after two senior members of his party were killed.

This as he challenged the results of the presidential election which placed him as runner up to Chapo.
