Former Prime Minister of Kenya, Raila Odinga has called on Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa for support in his campaign for the chairmanship of the African Union (AU).
Odinga made this appeal during his visit to Harare on Monday.
Since announcing his candidacy for the prestigious position, Odinga has been actively reaching out to various leaders across the continent to garner their backing.
The seasoned politician, who at 80 years old has dedicated much of his career to African unity, emphasized the importance of collaboration among African nations. His extensive political experience includes a focus on enhancing partnerships with neighboring countries and addressing regional challenges.
Odinga will compete against several candidates, including Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina, who is set to assume the role of chair during the upcoming Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit.
