Fadzayi Mahere, a prominent opposition figure and spokesperson for the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has publicly criticized Sengezo Tshabangu following his endorsement of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In a series of tweets, Mahere labeled Tshabangu’s actions as “unconstitutional, shameless, and tragic,” arguing that it undermines the efforts of genuine opposition politicians.
Mahere expressed her disappointment, stating that Tshabangu’s endorsement represents a betrayal to those who valiantly contested in the recent elections.
“This is the biggest scandal in the history of Zimbabwean politics. It mocks the sincere opposition politicians made to run in the last elections and it’s a slap in the face to the electorate that made their will known,” she tweeted.
The endorsement has ignited a firestorm of debate within political circles, with many supporters of the opposition rallying behind Mahere’s call for new leadership. “We need new leaders,” she emphasized, reflecting a growing sentiment among citizens dissatisfied with the current political landscape.
