Zimbabweans left on 4 July and were recruited by the Zimbabwe government on a secret mission. Highly connected individuals were involved in the scam which has resulted in Zimbabweans being arrested and detained in Freetown.
The Zimbabwe government has refused to name the Zimbabweans who have returned from Siera Leone and has ordered local media not to name the retruning Zimbabweans.
An unnamed Zimbabwean billionaire is funding the return of the Zimbabweans.
Zimbabwe travelling to Sierra Leone do not require to apply for a visa for short stays (tourism). However, an electronic travel authorization (eTA or eVisa) is required before entering Sierra Leone

1. Soldiers houses have been hurriedly handed over in Dzivarasekwa without any internal fittings. The projects are being implemented by the ZDF Construction Regiment with technical support provided by Road Haven Construction Company in a beneficial public-private partnership. “We provide affordable and modern housing technologies and solutions. A 32 year old woman,Ms Keneilwe Portia Shalaba of Boipatong, Gauteng,appeared at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate Court on charges of human trafficking, conspiracy to commit robbery and making a false statement to the police.The charges stem from allegations that on the 10 November 2024,the mother sold her two year old son,Kutlwano Shalaba,to unidentified individuals.On the 13 November 2024,she allegedly reported a false case to the police, claiming that her son had been kidnapped by unknown men in a vehicle.
