WATCH LIVE as Gambakwe looks at the loss by Chiwenga aligned war veterans who had gone to court to interdict the recently held war veterans elections. The case was postponed to the ordinary roll on 29 October 2024.

This effectively sidelines the faction aligned to Chiwenga which was hoping to go into the congress as official delegates.

This comes after Mnangagwa warned Chiwenga that there is no vacancy in the presidency after T-Shirt circulated showing campaigns for both sides.

1. Mystery surrounds the death of Chief Marupi (Born Oaheng Nare, 28). Evelyn Ndlovu, a Minister in Matabeleland, has revealed that she does not know what caused the death of Chief Marupi. She disclosed that she did not know if his death was linked to the robbery that took place at the Chief’s homestead.

He passed away at Health Point Hospital in Harare after a short illness on 20 October 2024. Born Oaheng Nare on 26 February 1996, he succeeded his father, Mr. Lawrence Nare, who died in 2008. Installed as chief in 2012 while still a minor, he officially took over the chieftaincy in 2014 upon turning 18.

He is survived by his wife, Rorisang Tlou.

On 13 October, Marupi was ambushed by masked men at his homestead aho stole his his newly allocated Isuzu double-cab official vehicle, R2 700, and two mobile phones.

2. SAA clashes with the Ministry of environment over USD2,4 in upaid fees. The ministry has obtained a court order on October 8 to attach any SAA property in Zimbabwe

This comes as SAA is claiming that they are owed USD62 Million which is stuck in Zimbabwe since 2016 as they can not repatriate the money due to lack of approval by the RBZ. The 2,4 million arose from meteorological weather service between 2004 and 2016 and SAA has already paid over USD 800 000.

3. SADC Electoral Observation Mission (SEOM) to the Botswana General Elections was officially launched on 22nd October 2024 by His Excellency Mizengo Kayanza Peter Pinda, former Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania and Head of Mission (HoM) for the SADC Electoral Observation Mission (SEOM) for Botswana’s General Elections which will be held on 30 October 2024. A total of 61 seats in the National Assembly and 609 local council seats will be up for contention, all to be decided through the first-past-the-post voting system.
4. Fuel shortages hit Cape Town for the whole of last week after operational issues at the Astron Energy Refinery, South Africa’s only coastal refinery. BP’s attempts to divert a ship that was destined for Durban faced failed due to bad weather. All Caltex-branded service stations in SA and Botswana are being rebranded into Astron Energy following the 2018 majority acquisition of former Chevron SA by Glencore SA Oil Investments.
