Construction of a cement plant to continue at Kemureza dam after the Chinese were granted an EMA certificate.
The certificate expires on 3 September 2026. The certificate specifies that the plant should not pollute the Kemureza dam. Lebanmon is also expected to relocate all affected residence before work can commence on the site. The project was originally opposed by the Zimbabwe National Army commanders for the nearby base and local chiefs. ZANU-PF official Thomas Chidzomba is the acting chairman of Lebanmon.

Dube served 2 4 year terms and attempted to extend beyond the legally permitted 8 years. Bulawayo Town Clerk Christopher Dube’s term of office has expired and has vacated his office. Though the Bulawayo City Council in February requested the Local Government Board to extend his contract, no response was received until his contract expired on the 30th of September. BCC is searching for a new Town Clerk. Dube was known for many scandals and squabbles within council.

Nigeria central bank governor, Oleyami Cardoso says this represents over 50% more than usual inflows since 2021.This amount represents a massive 136% above all inflows recorded in the whole of 2023. This follows the liberalisation of foreign exchange laws which has increased transparency and reduced arbitrage opportunities. CBN has set up a committee to facilitate more inflows of diaspora funds. 15 year old South Afican serial rapist has been sentenced years.
The boy has been sentenced to 15 years in jail. He was initially not arrested dur to his age and kept being referred to a social worker. The age of responsibility of South Africa has been increased from 12 to 14 and at this stage a child should not get in contact with the justice system.

FIFA Officials are in Zimbabwe
FIFA officials David Fani and Santa Rasoamahenina from the FIFA Regional Office for Southern Africa are currently in the country.
Reasons for their visit include strengthening football development.
“The delegation will be in Zimbabwe until the 4th of October 2024, working closely with key stakeholders to advance several important initiatives,” wrote ZIFA.
During their visit, Mr Fani and Mr Rasoamahenina will meet with the ZIFA Normalisation Committee, ZIFA CEO, FIFA Forward Manager, and other senior members of the secretariat. Their discussions will focus on the following key agenda items:
1. ZIFA Village Renovation Project – The team will review project documentation and assist in the preparation of the project application, alongside discussions on title holding to ensure the successful renovation of the ZIFA Village.
2. ZIFA Ordinary Congress Preparations – With the ZIFA Ordinary Congress set for the 18th of October 2024, the delegation will discuss ongoing preparations to ensure a smooth and well- coordinated event.
3. Engagement with Zimbabwe Men’s National Team Representatives – The delegation will also meet with representatives from the Zimbabwe men’s national team to engage in fruitful discussions on football development and the players’ ongoing involvement in national football initiatives.
