British Academic Professor Stephen Chan has came to the defence of Nevers Mumba after claims that he is on a mission to derail the Zimbabwe’s democracy.
This comes as the Herald reported that Chan is at the centre of the European Union (EU) plot to derail the country’s democratic processes in last month’s elections, working closely with Mumba who is sympathetic to the opposition.
Prof. Stephen Chan dismissed the allegations as false.
“I don’t know where they make these stories up from. I wish I had the power & influence the Herald imagines I have.”
Chan said he has not met Mumba for over five years but admires his stand as SADC Observer chief.
“And when I did meet him it was briefly. But I’m sure Nevers Mumba would agree: character assassination is the lowest form of political discourse”.
