South Africa will be printing ballot papers for the May 2024 elections outside the country.
The South African Electoral Commission said local companies do not have the capacity to print double column ballots.
KZN electoral Officer, Ntombifuthi Masinga said this was prompted by the Electoral Act ammendment that required the addition of a Seperate column for independent candidates on the ballot.
Independent candidates will only feature on 200 of the 400 regional seats while the remaining 20 seats will be reserved for political parties.
Masinga was speaking during an event at the University of KZN where the Human Sciences Research Council released its findings on the IEC and voter confidence.
