Pastor Evan Mawarire, Director of education at Renew Democracy Initiative, led a discussion on founding sustainable democracy movements at the SNF Agora Institute.
Also involved in the discussions was activist, Joey Siu from Hong Kong.
Pastor Evan explained that he fled Zimbabwe because his life was in danger. He reluctantly chose to leave so that he could be alive to continue the struggle.
Pastor Evan said being in exile allows him to establish more connections with friendly governments and organizations and to receive funding which was illegal in Zimbabwe.
