Prominent Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono says he will get the Twitter blue tick under protest after it was removed from profiles not subscribed to Twitter Blue subscription.
Yesterday, a number of celebrities, world leaders and journalists lost their Twitter blue verification badges.
Writing on Twitter, Chin’ono said he doesnt believe in paying for the Blue tick, ” but for the sake of avoiding impersonation , I will get it under protest”.
He added that his presence and that of others on social media generates millions a day for the owners of the platforms hence they are not doing anyone a favor buy charging the Blue Tick.
Individual users of Twitter must buy a $8 monthly subscription to keep their blue verification checkmarks on the platform.
